Silodosin is used in the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia. By blocking the alpha1A-adrenergic receptor signaling pathway, silodosin promotes relaxation of smooth muscles of the prostate and urethra, thereby improving lower urinary tract symptoms such as urination. Silodosin can block the sympathetic nervous system mediated by α1A-adrenoceptor subtypes distributed in the prostate, urethra and bladder triangle of lower urinary tract tissue, relieve smooth muscle tension of lower urinary tract tissue, inhibit the increase of intraurethral pressure, and thus improve the symptoms of urination disorders caused by prostatic hyperplasia.
