Uracil is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
Uracil is an organic base, one of the four main bases in RNA, a major pyrimidine component in ribonucleic acid, and a component of various uridylic acids. It is linked to ribose by nucleoside bonds to produce uridine, and its triphosphate compound is uridine, which is a precursor of uracil during ribonucleic acid biosynthesis. Uracil can block the degradation of tigafluoride, increase the concentration of fluorouracil, and enhance the anticancer effect. The clinical indication is the same as fluorouracil, mainly used for digestive cancer, breast cancer and thyroid cancer, etc., and it has good efficacy in combination with mitomycin for advanced gastric cancer.
