Natural Esculin has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-hemagglutination, analgesic and other activities.
Natural Esculin is a glucoside compound, which occurs naturally in unprocessed seeds, leaves, bark, and flowers of horse chestnut. Aesculin is used for the identification of bacteria, for the treatment of hemorrhoids and venous peripheral diseases. In cosmetics, esculin was found to be effective in the treatment of aging skin. Owing to its ultraviolet absorbing activity, esculin is employed in tanning preparations. Natural Esculin can be also used as a substrate for the detection of ß-gluocosidase activity in polyacrylamide gels.

Esculin is a naturally occurring coumarin derivative and glucoside found primarily in the bark and leaves of the horse chestnut tree (Aesculus hippocastanum) and other plants. It is known for its fluorescent properties—it glows blue under ultraviolet light when in solution.
In microbiology, it is used as a key component in bile esculin agar to identify certain bacteria, like enterococci and streptococci, which can hydrolyze esculin. It also has medicinal relevance and is sometimes included in venoactive drugs for its potential vasoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects. However, it may be toxic in large quantities.
