Posaconazole can effectively prevent invasive fungal infections and is mainly used for the treatment of candida infections, which has the advantages of good efficacy and significant safety.
Posaconazole exerts its antifungal activity by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is an important component necessary for fungi to maintain the structural integrity of cell membranes and perform the function of some membrane-associated proteins, and is also an essential trace substance in the fungal cell cycle. Posaconazole inhibits the accumulation of 14α-methylsterol by inhibiting fungal pigment P45014α-demethylase, which hinders the synthesis of ergosterol.
