Dexamethasone sodium phosphate is an adrenocortical hormone with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-rheumatic, and immunosuppressive effects. The mechanism of action of dexamethasone sodium phosphate is not as follows: (1) Anti-inflammatory effect: it can reduce and prevent the response of tissues to inflammation, thereby reducing the manifestations of inflammation. It inhibits the accumulation of inflammatory cells, including macrophages and leukocytes, at the site of inflammation and inhibits phagocytosis, lysosomal release, and synthesis and release of inflammatory chemical intermediaries. (2) Immunosuppressive effect: including preventing or inhibiting cell-mediated immune response, delaying allergic reactions, reducing the number of T lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, reducing the binding ability of immunoglobulins to cell surface receptors, and inhibiting the synthesis and release of interleukin, thereby reducing the transformation of T lymphocytes to lymphocytes and reducing the expansion of the primary immune response. It can also reduce the passage of immunorequisites through the basement membrane and reduce the concentration of complement components and immunoglobulins.
