Brinzolamide is used to treat open-angle glaucoma and excessive intraocular pressure due to other causes. Brinzolamide is a new type of local heterocyclic sulfonamide carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, which has a strong affinity and inhibitory effect on the carbonic anhydrase isoenzyme II (CAII) in human ciliary body, selective, high affinity and obvious inhibition of carbonic anhydrase isoenzyme II activity, effectively reducing intraocular pressure, with high efficiency, low toxicity, and small side effects.
